Primus Telecommunications tried to rip me off and didn't succeed. I had unlimited minutes long distance service for 39.95 per month. On June 3, the long distance service terminated for reasons I didn't know. Assuming a line problem, I called Primus and after several calls was told that my service was disconnected for abuse.
Not knowing what the alleged abuse was, I kept calling and finally hooked up to a rep who told me that I had exceeded the minutes allowed limit of 1400 minutes for 4 months in a row. Without any notification, they changed the unlimited minutes to 1400 and began monitoring my usage and terminated the service in May of disconnecting it on June 3. The rep became nasty when I questioned the disconnection. He claimed that a notice was sent to me and that they had discontinued the unlimited plans and I could sign up for a regular cents per minute plan. No thank you I told him.
When I paid the final bill I deducted 10 dollars for the pick freeze charge when a new company began my long distance service. I reported Primus to the FCC for all the good it did. Primus lied to the FCC about why I switched phone service, saying that I said they couldn't provide me with sufficient service so I switched companies. Further, they claimed that they weren't responsible for my having to pay 10 dollars for the freeze since they didn't require it and I did it on my own. The FCC closed the complaint and took no action. The kicker is that when I signed with Primus they paid for the freeze as part of the deal when I switched to them.
They sent bills for 10 dollars June through August, adding on interest. I called them and told billing they might as well save paper and postage, they weren't getting 10 dollars and a few cents interest. He said they would turn it over to a collection agency. I told him to go ahead.in a few days calls from a Ms. Biggs at a collection company in Maryland began to jangle my phone. I put her on ignore. She doesn't call anymore.
