I am currently driving for Covenant, but will be leaving soon. Be forewarned... They will NEVER pay detention pay. Their employee manual says they will pay detention ANYTIME you wait at a shipper over 2 hours. They will pay detention, but if Covenant has a contract with a shipper stating the shipper does not have to pay detention, you will not get paid (shippers/receivers are the entity that always pay detention).
This means the driver is paying for this contract, not Covenant. This is just plain wrong! If Covenant wants to have contracts like this with their shipper, then Covenant should pay the detention pay to the driver instead of the shipper. The driver is the one sitting without pay. They should be compensated no matter what. Just goes to show that with Covenant, you are just a number... Not a driver.
Also, if you do plan to drive for Covenant, always, always, always call the Shipper/Receiver yourself to get directions. Do not count on their directions. I have even sent in updated directions and when I get sent back to the same location, the old (and incorrect) directions are still sent to me. They just don't seem to care about their drivers. Trust me, it's not fun getting lost if a big city with no place to stop and no way to get turned around. Get the directions yourself!!!
