Coast To Coast Moving Express
Ripoff

My move was from Southern California to Seattle. I am very accustom to moving, having moved 4 times in 6 years. I know what to expect from a moving company and this company by far is the worst I have ever dealt with.

I have collected quite a bit of moving supplies, boxes and paper, over the years and packed everything that I believed need to be packed with some extra boxes and paper to spare.

Things started off badly when the movers arrived 4 hours late. Upon their very late arrival, I was informed by the "foreman" that basically everything needed to be put in boxes. Some of these items were a 32" television, box springs, curio cabinet, chimena etc. All of these items I have had for a few years and have never had to put in boxes before.

I was also informed that these items required bubble tape or the company would not reimbursement me if they were damaged in transit. I had to argue with him for several minutes why these items did not need boxes and he finally comprised on a few items.

Additionally, I was charged for tape, which I was expecting. What I wasn't expecting is the amount of tape to be used. They were extremely liberal with the amount they used. I have never seen that much tape used before.

After they were finished packing all of my items, they made their final calculations on what the final bill would be. The square footage of space that my things took up was calculated. I had to argue with the foreman on what length he thought my items took up. For the length he was off by an inch, which made a big difference in the end. Secondly, they don't deduct for void space left at the top of the truck. After a 15 minute argument I gave up and was charged for the void space. Of course, this square footage they came up with was way off of the estimate.

The final tally with extra boxes, packing tape and square footage was about $2,500 more than what I was expecting. My company reimburses me for my moves so I wasn't too upset, but I did have to explain the discrepancy to my boss.

I arrived in Seattle two days after I was packed and expected the movers three days later. After no call on move in day and a no show from the moving company, I gave the foreman a call. He said that the date that was agreed upon did not fit their schedule and my things would be delivered 7 days after the agreed upon date.

This made me furious and I had several arguments with the foreman and made them fit me into their schedule. Their solution, which I found out after they moved me in, was to unload and re-load them on another truck. So my things got loaded and unloaded 4 times, which doubled the chances of items being damaged.

When the movers finally showed up, their were only two guys and one had a thrown out back. The foreman tried to round up some guys to help, but was unsuccessful. So one man attempted to unload a three bedroom household. I after watching the extremely slow process decided to pitch in. The move-in took about 12 hours.

Over the next three days I say what damaged was caused. I had one item that was not replaceable completely destroyed. The rest of the damaged ranged from minor to major.

I submitted a claim and was told I would receive $267 to compensate me for the damages. It is 8 months later and I still haven't received a check. I have followed up several times and gotten a very poor response.

In summary, do not use this company. They will do everything they can to increase their bottom line while giving horrific service.
