They sent me a letter via email and to my home address, advising me that I could upgrade my 2 phones I had. I called around to see who could give me a better deal then Cingular, and I chose to go with another company, because they (Cingular) TERRIBLE service and you had to wait forever to get someone to help you.
Then 2 months later they sent me a letter and a bill stating that I owed them $356 and some odd cents. I proceeded to call them and I advised them that I was out of contract. They said that my contracts were up on the phones in January. I asked them why they sent me something advising me I could upgrade, if that was NOT the case!
I got an attitude from the women, saying WELL, YOU CAN UPGRADE WHEN YOU'RE STILL IN CONTRACT! I told her, NO ONE told me that I was in contract, and this should have been told to me, SINCE I HAD BEEN A CUSTOMER FOR 10 YEARS! They acted like they didn't care whether or not I had been with them 10 year or not. They in no certain terms said that I had to pay that amount of money and that was it. I even wrote a letter to them, advising them how they were wrong. They sent me a letter telling me again that they were not going to waive the 150.00 cancelation fee per phone and basically were sorry that I had a beef with them.
Now remember, I had been a LOYAL CUSTOMER FOR 10 YEARS! I used to work for them, and not only do they treat their employees terrible, I said why would I think that they would treat their customers any differently. They then sent me to a collection agency which I got a letter in the mail, saying I OWE Cingular Wireless $459. And some odd cents.
Not only did they rip me off here, they even billed me for a full month of service from October to November, when I didn't even have them then. I think that they are sickening and they are VERY deceiving because they want peoples money, instead of trying to actually help someone. They are TERRIBLE! I would advise anyone that has them to wait till they are out of contract and go somewhere else.
This SHOULD be illigal you know. I'm sick and tired of these big companies like SBC ripping us little folk off! It's time to change the tide in my opinion!
