Rebate ripoff

I purchased a cell phone 2 years ago from intelenetwireless.com. The process for receiving rebates was somewhat convoluted then, but I was given my rebates after closely following the directions.

I purchased another cellphone about 9 months ago, the Siemens S56 with Cingular service. I was offered two $75 rebates. The rebate instructions were again fairly complicated, but I marked the 6 month date on my calendar and got everything ready to mail in. I checked everything on the list, photocopied the required documents, and mailed them off.

Rather than receiving two $75 rebate checks in response, I received two notices saying that I was denied because "The bill (s) sent does not show an invoice/bill date." This is a boldfaced LIE because I know for a fact that each of my bills has a bill date. Honestly, have you ever received a bill from a company that didn't have an invoice date? It was outrageous.

I responded through the required email that the Company must be mistaken.in response, I was told to mail the same information back that I had already sent them within a window of time that had already pass.in other words, there was no possible recourse. I complained again, saying that it would be impossible to comply with their demands, and have never heard back.

I thought I was a rare case, and gave the company the benefit of the doubt until I read the following article on msnbc.com:

Http://redtape. Msnbc.com/01/consumers_irked.html

The article details how rebate consumers are being ripped off by wirefly, which is a subsidiary of Inphonic (the parent company of intelenetwireless). The example cited in this article was the exact same thing that happened to me, with the same denial using the same language. It's an absolute scam. I've never been a litigious person, but until intelenet remediates this problem by paying me my two $75 rebates, I'm more than happy to join in a class-action lawsuit against these guys. Reading all the rest of the complaints, it sounds like there's no shortfall of clearcut evidence to use against them.
