Let me start off by saying, I should have known better and I wish I had heard of this site a week ago. I was too naieve to think puppy mills existed in my neighborhood.
My wife and I purchsed a cockapoo puppy from Furry Friends last week. That night after we brought him home he became very sick. At first we though it might be just nerves from being moved to a new home but we decided to take him to their recomended vet just to make sure. When some friends of ours heard where we bought him from they told us some of the stories they had heard. Thank God I did some research and came across this site. When my wife called them to tell them the dog was sick they said they would treat him, after what I read from others here, I did not want them to touch the dog. My wife told them we would be taking him to their recomended vet (which one of their employees works at, and is also has been our personal vet for years)
Turns out he has Coccidia and the vet hooks him up to an IV because he is so dehydrated. MY kids are upset because their new puppy has to spend all day at the vet and is so sick.
The next day, my wife and my mom take the bills to Furry Friends to ask them for a $250 reimbursement in vet fees since they sold us a sick puppy, They were trying to play it off like we wasted our money and needlessly took our puppy to the vet for a "NON LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCY" She said, "Non life threatening, he was throwing up and had blood in his diarea. What do they consider life threatening?
My wife was told that the manager was not in and they would only reimburse $11 because it was not life threatening. "My wife told her, you were at the vet's office when I brought him in, you knew how sick he was" She said, well you will have to talk to the manager when she gets in. My wife called later and talked to someone over the phone who said "The manager will not talk to you" My wife asked for the owners name and she would not release that information.
I will post an update, this is not over yet.
P.S. After treatment, our new puppy is so far improving in health.
