I inquired about moving services on line in April. Carri, owner of A Professional Move, warned me of other Moving Companies and scams and directed me to a very specific Better Business Bureau website to show some credibility. I found later that there were other sites that told the truth about them.
In the coarse of a year, they changed their phone number 5 times. Although, Carri was based in CA, she said they had an office in TX and this is where my furniture was stored until the move to CA. Pricing went up over $3K from the original estimate, which of course they blamed on me for having more boxes than originally stated. Arguements persued, and she was typically unavailable when we called. We knew we would have to pay the new rate to get our furniture.
The last straw was when our antique piano was delivered, it had heavy water damage and mold from storage. It was noted by the delivery man, and Carri said they would take care of it through their insurance. I have 35 documented emails that I sent to A Professional Move, and none were returned. She made certain not to communicate in writing. Shortly after, she changed her number again, and their emails started to be returned undeliverable.
Here's the clencher. I travel frequently for business, and went to the Richardson, TX address and the Woodland Hills, CA address. The Richardson address for an established bank building and the suite does not exist, and their name is not on the marquis. The Woodland Hills office is that of an accounting firm that has been at that location for over 7 years and has never heard of A Professional Move. Both addresses were completely bogus! We couldn't even file a claim because we couldn't find a real address and contact number.
