As a professional home stager, I move frequently at my own expense. My furniture is my trade. Dino's Moving and Storage broke the leg on a $3000 Henredon coffeetable, which was stored in my garage and discovered two days after the move.
They agreed to pay for the repair ($500) and as I was moving in 60 days, said they'd deduct it from the next move.
When I paid in full for the repair, and presented them with the bill the day of the next move, they refused to honor it, offering only $250 or they would walk off the job.
I reluctantly agreed as I had to be out the home (escrow was closing) but told them I wanted to buy full insurance for this move, since I could not expect them to honor any damage.
They refused to sell me full value insurance, and walked off the job leaving me with a home full of furniture and no mover.
I ended up hiring another mover at considerably higher rates, and because of the lateness of the hour had to stretch the move over two days.
It was a nightmare. They refuse to cooperate despite all efforts on my behalf to settle. I now will have to take them to small claims courts.
