This concerns a "business" owned and run by Robert Melendrez in Santa Ana CA passing himself off as a Paralegal, when in fact he is authorized only as a legal document assistant.
This man has caused a nightmare in my life. He has caused me to be evicted (by taking money from me to have an attorney assist me in court, when in fact he himself, although not a lawyer, showed up and literally said OK to the eviction-without my knowledge or consent) his excuse was he was filing suit against the landlords and the eviction showed "harm", told me not to worry as he is "filing suit" immediately and will have the eviction expunged from my record.
He then wanted more cash saying I had to file bankruptcy right away. He did not file the bankruptcy, nor even do the paper work until nearly 3 months later causing the repo of my car.
I found out recently, that while he collected my money and others money, he actually filed a bankruptcy for himself and his company.
He uses the business name 'ORANGE COUNTY PARALEGAL' which caused me to assume wrongly, that he was indeed part of the legal, respected and honest "ORANGE COUNTY PARALEGAL ASSOCIATION". Caution, ths man or business is not a part of this professional organizaion. His business cards or paperwork receipts do not identify him as a Legal Document Assistant only. I had to go through several channels to find out this.
Unknown to me until just very recently is that he also uses the DBA "Legal Documents in Pro Per", California Coorperation #C2201349.
Melendrez does not return calls, and has simply closed his office for weeks at a time leaving clients in a terrible state.
I have asked him several times to return my paperwork, this is my property not his. He has ignored my letters and calls and is still illegally holding my paperwork concerning the eviction and all other information.
Sadly this man is now passing himself as a "Christian" to further victim and falsely instil trust.
Please, these types using the term Paralegal, when in truth are not working under the supervision of a legally licensed attorney or affiliated with an attorney are by law are only allowed to perform the typing of legal documents only, never to advise on how to do the papers or any legal advice.
The so called attorney that he said was going to represent me in court, I now know does not exist and is not listed anywhere with the California Bar association. Then the attorney Melendrez told me to give out to the landlords for this so called suit had nor has ever heard of me. There was never any lawsuit filed, Melendrez is to authorized to file or serve anyone. He made a fool of a very vunerable person, and continue to do this knowing full well what this has caused me and my family.
Another word of caution, this man also offers services in immigration, and criminal cases. This is very dangerous. He is preying upon the most vunerable in our society.
He does have a bad write up with the Better Business Bureau. You can pull up that info on the BBB southland web. But as we all know, the BBB is not caring enough to make sure it even gives the correct address and spelling of names. Please pull up the information by the phone number 714 667-1999. Also the BBB states to call the county recorders office. That will do nothing. This kind of activity needs to be reported to the Orange County District Attorney's office.
