We hired the Skaffs as business consultants in 2004 for $5,000. During this process it was decided that we needed a new website. The Skaffs recommended their web developer and offered via contract to oversee development of the site. The development was quoted at $12,700 with completion in March.
Several times during the course of development I questioned whether the application could support our traffic and growth and was reassured that it would. Development wrapped up in July of several months behind schedule and upon opening the site crashed. We discovered that the redesign could not support our existing traffic let alone our number of products.
Along with the $12,700 we paid an additional $2,000 for modules that were required that via the contract should have been in place. We finally realized that the new cart was just not going to make it. At that point we ditched all but the site design and hired another programmer to upgrade the site for $5,700.
We made an initial payment of $5,080 to the Skaffs and monthly payments thereafter of $1,500. We held back the finally payment of $1,500 due to the fact that we had paid for the additional modules that were included in the design.
The Skaffs suggested we all have a conference call to review the contract, us, the developer and Meagan & Dan. I suggested that I did not need to be a part of this as I had already sent emails outlining our additional costs and the fact that after 14,700 we did not have a functioning site. I suggested that they review their contracts and I would expect a check in the mail with some type of partial reimbursement.
That was over 1 month ago and I have heard from neither the Skaffs nor the programmer.
AT this point I am no longer willing to settle for a partial refund, I would like all monies for development to be refunded. Not only did we have a loss of monies during the redevelopment but after due to poor functionality of the site.
