Great Expectations
Conrad Acceptance Corp. Ripoff, scam, fraudulent, lying, deceptive, deceitful, con, con artists, liar, liars, scammers, shameless, Various Cities

1. They lied when they told me a friend had referred them to me. I knew only 2 of the women in their system (one from a previous dating service who had become a friend and one who I had barely had any interaction at all with) and neither of those women had referred me. One of them told me she had bought her membership from a guy who was a friend of hers and got it very cheap and the second one told me that she was ashamed to have let herself get ripped off and scammed by their salespeople. She said she had asked them to discontinue her profile and remove it. They hadn't done so for over a year after she had made that request.

2. I got the usual "you're a very attractive man and you're going to do very well here" pitch that they use on everyone. The salesperson, Brenda Halling, also told me it was fine that I was (at the time) bankrupt (which certainly doesn't fit their profile for successful that they pitch in person and on their website).

3. I was told on the phone, in the interview and again on their website that their were thousands of active members locally. There were less than 300 women and far less than 1000 in a combination of men and women, according to a female friend who was also scammed by them and has since discontinued HER membership too.

4. I was also told that our credit arrangement was 'in-house'. Ms. Halling stepped out of the room to 'verify with the owner' that it would be okay to extend me in-house credit since I couldn't have a revolving charge show up on my Credit. I was reassured by Ms. Halling in person during the interview and again in writing later by Valerie Liles, their Member Services Director, that the agreement with Conrad didn't report to the Credit Bureaus and that it wouldn't unless I defaulted on my payments. It reported since the first payment.

5. Realizing I had made a mistake in signing up and that so much of their 'pitch' didn't add up, I FAXed them a request to discontinue my membership right after signing up. The reason their 'no-cancellation' policy is so rigid is because once people find out they've been robbed they want out! If they were reputable business people they would have no problem issuing a refund. The fact is that they support their people lying and saying whatever is necessary to get some poor lonely soul to sign on the dotted line and give up whatever amount they choose to charge that person.

These people have to be stopped. I finally found an attorney who is considering a class action lawsuit against them and is willing to fight them. GE has already offered me a partial refund but I want ALL my money back as they lied to me on numerous counts to get me to sign up in the first place.

If you are mad also, or just want to air your grievances with GE then, by all means, PLEASE join me in the Yahoo Group Anti Great Expectations Chat on Sunday evenings. It's off to a slow start but I will be there every Sunday evening I can, at least until 6:30 CST, even if no one else shows. I check my email frequently so if you're there and I'm not, just leave me an email and I'll come join you.
