After reading a few usacomplaints.com testimonials, I decided to contact this company and see what hassles I'd encounter when I attempted to cancel. Got the usual recorded message, followed shortly by a directive to "Press 1 to Cancel my membership" followed quickly by a human rep/sales/customer serviceperson.

After volunteering several key items of personal info, I was asked why I wished to cancel. Short answer: Don't want it! Then the sales pitch started. Every time she took a breath, I repeated, "I wish to cancel." On about my fifth declaration, I added, "... And I WILL dispute this latest credit card charge."

The phone went silent, then I heard a muffled "OK" and was told that I had been cancelled and... Well... The follow-up e-mail pretty much echoes what she said. Now to wait and see what happens.

We're sorry to see you go! We have received your request to cancel your CreditCheck Monitoring Service membership. We are in the process of fulfilling your request... You will receive a prorated credit to your account within seven to ten business days... Should appear on your next credit card billing statement... Hope you enjoyed your CreditCheck benefits, including (blah, blah, blah).
