Ripoff sold me candy that is 3 years past its shelf-life. Also sold me candy that was not as it appeared in photo on web site

I purchased a 48-count box of Sugar Daddy Pops and a 144-count bag of BB Bats candy from RockOfAgesCandy.com in August. When I completed my online order, there was no invoice to print out, and no confirmation email was sent to me either.

When I opened the package this company sent, it was clear that they just threw the items I ordered into a box with no bubble wrap, no packing peanuts, nothing to cushion the candy.

I ordered a 144-count bag of BB Bats. The bag the candy comes in, as shown on RockOfAgesCandy.com's website, is from the manufacturer with the BB Bats logo on the bag. However, I didn't receive a 144-count bag as shown on the order page. Rather, I received a 96-count box of BB Bats (with a tear in the plastic wrap) and a clear zip-lock bag containing the remaining 48 BB Bats. The BB Bats in the zip-lock bag had unequal quantities of flavors. Plus, the zip-lock bag had several small holes in it and a few tears (as if with a razor blade). The BB Bats were falling out of the zip-lock bag, and some loose BB Bats were on the bottom of the shipping container.

I also ordered a 48-count box of Sugar Daddy Pops. I opened the sealed box and tasted one of the pops. It tasted old. I tried another just to be sure and, no doubt, it tasted old. The box of Sugar Daddy Pops had an orange price sticker on it for a cheap price (less than half of what I had paid).

I emailed the company and stated the aforementioned problems, but I never received a response. So I called the company, and I spoke with the owner Richard. Richard stated that that is how he received the Sugar Daddy Pops from his distributor. I must mention here that on his website, it states that "All of the items that we carry come direct and fresh from the manufacturer. If a manufacturer has stopped producing an item, we do not try to track down someone else's unsold product, as we cannot verify freshness." This is obviously not true. Regarding the BB Bats, Richard said that he cannot get the 144-count bags of BB Bats anymore, so he is sending the candy out the way I received it. As to the zip-lock bag having holes and large tears in it, he blamed it on the BB Bats. He told me that I can return the candy for a full refund, and he agreed to refund my return shipping.

I then went online to the Tootsie Roll company's website. They produce Sugar Daddy Pops. I filled out an online form with all of the information from the box of Sugar Daddy Pops that I purchased. I received a response from a manager of consumer relations that "the box of Sugar Daddy Pops were produced August 23 and are 3 years beyond their 12 month shelf life." Okay, now I had proof that the box of Sugar Daddy Pops that RockOfAgesCandy.com sold me is old... VERY OLD!

I emailed RockOfAgesCandy and stated that I sent the candy back to them for a refund. I also shared with them the info I received from Tootsie Roll regarding the age of the Sugar Daddy Pops. I received NO response.

I have my fingers crossed that I will get my money back because this company has never responded to any of my emails, they sold me OLD candy and are dishonest on their website that they buy direct from the manufacturer, etc... I just plain don't trust this company.

One important fact that was brought up to me by someone was that this company uses a P.O. Box as a mailing address. That should have been a red flag. It is best to deal with companies that use actual street addresses rather than P.O. Boxes. I was naive, but learned my lesson the hard way.

One more thing, on RockOfAgesCandy.com's website (on the About Us page), the "Yahoo! Shopping Top Service" logo is displayed with a 5 star rating. I checked on the Yahoo! Shopping site for this online retailer, and they are not listed. Oh, RockOfAgesCandy is still displaying the graphic of the BB Bats candy in a bag with the logo on it that they do not even have in stock!

Terrible, terrible, terrible. I feel so ripped-off!
