Stamps.com is listed on the United States Postal website as a company that consumers can buy stamps and other postage on line. This was supposed to limit the time a person spends at the post office waiting in line.
I felt that since it was recommended by the US Postal Service website it must be legitimate. WRONG!
Stamps.com suckers customers into signing up for their service by offering a free 29 day trail and a free scale for trying their services. To start with the free scale would not be sent until after the 30 days of using their service was up this was not disclosed until after I had signed up.
What service they offered is still a mystery to me. For one you have to buy any stamps you use at a minimal of ten dollars, which is taken out of you visa account immediately. You also must hope their program prints the postage on the correct label. If the postage is printed on none labels it is unusable and you are out the cost of the postage. Stamps.com makes refunds to you account after you prove it printed wrongly and after waiting about four weeks. As you can see they only take minutes to take you money and weeks to refund it.
Still I kept me account with stamps.com. Each month on the 10 day 15.99 was taken from my visa. Finely I decided to close my account with stamps.com on July 13.
After canceling my account I was told that because my account was closed after the 10th of the month I was required to pay the full month charge for July. BUT they had already taken a 15.99 charge out in July 9. Now they were planning on taking a second charge for July because I canceled my account on the 13th instead of the 9th. So for, four days I was charged for a full month. My requests to speak with a supervisor was refused.
This company not only double charges but is not costomer frindly, and no supervisers are employed there.
