I submitted a poem last year around July. I was contacted by the American Poetry Society via mail requesting the privilage to publish my poem. I was told I could purchase a copy of the book entitled "Expression". I spoke to a sales rep before mailing in my check. I thought I was being careful. I even took the time to look up the company to see if any complaints had been filed with the BBB. I found nothing. Everything sounded real so I sent in a check for 1 copy. ($50.00 and some change) Thank goodness I only ordered one. I can't imagine loosing over $100.00 or more.
I am still trying to get in touch with someone from the company. I have sent letters, sent emails (when they did have a web address) and I have even left several messages for someone to call me back. I was told I would receive my book in the Spring of 2005. Here ii is June and I have yet to see a copy. I know there are real companies out there who will, in fact, publish your poems. However, I do not believe this is one of them. Be careful out there. There are a lot of preditors. Poetry is a work of art and I don't know of anyone who would not be proud to have something like that published. These people know this and prey on us. Shame on them!
