People's Pharmacy
Discrimination, Sexism And Rude ripoff

May 16, Monday, I had heard a lot of very good things about the homeopathic and naturalistic approach of this pharmacy to pharmacy in addition to the pharmaceuticals from the BIG Pharmacy companies. It struck me as very nice and very unusual and I wanted to write an article about it. I was looking to see what sort of remedies I might be able to get for myself and several friends.

I am mobility impaired so I had my brother park in the handicapped parking lot with my sticker displayed and then I went inside. I asked if there was anyone in here who could help me. I was IGNORED! The young men and there were two of them behind teh counter with dark-colored smocks on, stared at me like I was a big cockroach and they wished I would go away. They were extremely reude.

I stood next to where I thought you would have to stand SINCE NOTHING WAS CLEARLY LABELLED WHERE TO PUT YOUR ORDER IN AND WHERE TO PICK IT UP and the people behind the counter would look at me then play like they didn't see me. I was wearing a nice black polo shirts and nice black carpenter's jeans and nioce black clogs and I had just had a nice hairstyle but I was over 50 years old so there may have been some age discrimination that AUSTIN TEXAS is becoming notorious for.

People would come in the store and almost push me aside and they would be waited on. I wasn't aware that you had to have a private membership to be waited on here. Then I realized that maybe a mobility impaired American Indian female over 50 was NOT wanted in this store. And Austin is supposed to be so culturally diverse and celebrating the ethnic and raciali differences...

I waited 15 minutes in there before I left the store. There was NO ONE on the floor to wait on anyone and if there had been, they were sure NOT going to wait on me. Well, it's their store and they can choose not to serve me. I didn't see anyone but young white people behind the counter. The store was NOT busy either. I was the only person there. A few white men came in and the people behind teh counter fawned all over them. When I tried to get service, they IGNORED me as usual.

I called the HQ and told them what had happened to me. Their attitude seemed to be if you aren't RICH, young, white and beautiful, then you can GO TO HELL... We don't WANT people like YOU in our store.

Homeopathy is supposed to be affordable too. People who can't afford doctors and the usual medical establishment use this but I think I would rather go to a Mexican healer or curendero than put up with this horrible treatment and snobbery of these yuppie-wannabes who are supposed to at least acknowledge everybody who walks in their store. Their prices are geared toward the yuppie crowd too. I also have visual problems and couldn't quite see the merchandise either so I really could have used some assistance. It wasn't going to happen in THAT store.

So I am telling EVERYONE who lives in Austin that this is ANOTHER one of the rip-off businesses in Austin, Texas that does NOT want ANYONE but white YUPPIES in their store! I wonder if the people who work in there make enough money to be considered yuppies and I wonder why they have to act like them.

I WILL NEVER SET FOOT IN THE so-called PEOPLE'S PHARMACY at NORTH LAMAR in AUSTIN, TEXAS again and unless you want to subsidize YUPPIE, SOCIOPATHIC behavior NEITHER WILL YOU!

If you are over 50 and you are a female of an ethnic or racial minority DO NOT COME TO AUSTIN, TEXAS. Only the horrible Austin rip-off employers are worse than the way the Austin businesses treat older people who would like to patronize them.
