I recently reviewed my telephone bill (SBC) and notice in the long distance portion I was being charged a $2.00 flat fee every month for long distance service. I called SBC and was routed back and forth. The first person told me that this was a free service two years ago but have been charging $2.00 per month for the last two years.
I never ordered this service because I use my cell phone to make my long distance calls. SBC decided on their own to give me a free service, then decided to charge me on their own. Next, I was transferred to another very rude employee of SBC (Residential). He couldn't tell me when SBC started charging me this monthly fee.
So I asked him to research it and he spent the next 20 minutes of my time trying to find out when this billing started. So instead of spending anymore of my time on the phone getting no results, I asked him to remove the service immediately.
He told me that it would cost me $7.95 to have the fee removed. I was so angry! He then offered me another long distance service for free. He wasn't willing to help me so he transferred me to another department and was suppose to stay on the line until they answered, but hung up and the line he sent me to was bogus.
This is a company that sells communication and they can't communicate. This fee is hidden on the back portion of my bill along with all the other taxes, surcharges, etc. I never ordered it to begin with and spent countless hours trying to not have a long distance carrier.
Now I have been billed for two years at 2.00 per month and they still want $7.95 per month to remove the service I didn't order in the first place. I asked the second idiot to tell me where and when I placed this order and he couldn't tell me. As he rudely said, I don't have that on the top of my head.
I am so sick of being charged for something I didn't order. Just think of how many millions or billions of dollars SBC is making off of people if they are also paying $2.00 per month for a service they didn't order. There were no apologies and God only knows what my next bill will encounter.
