National IP Rights Center - Scott J. Fields - TrademarkMyName.com
Total Rip off, conned into services that they wouldn't provide as promised

In December I decided to trademark a business name, and found this "company" online under "trademarkmyname.com". I hired them to trademark the business name, and things went fine.

Then, Scott J. Fields who is apparently the main attorney told me that I should file my company with the state as a LLC (Limited Liability Company) so as to protect myself in the event of a lawsuit.

He sounded knowledgeable and convincing, so I agreed to pay the fee of $600.00 to have it done. He told me that it would take "a couple of weeks", and that he would take care of everything. That was on December 22nd.

A few weeks went by, and I hadn't heard anything. I called, and talked to Scott. He told me it would be taken care of, and not to worry. A few more weeks went by, and nothing. He then called me and said that it was being handled. I called several more times, and they still hadn't gotten it done.

I then patiently waited, and waited, and waited.instead of taking a couple of weeks, it was about a month and a half before they finally filed the paperwork with the state. Then, about a week later, the state mailed me the paperwork, and said it was not filed correctly. They instructed that I had 30 days
to correct it.

Instead of handling this problem immediately, Scott Fields just sat on it, and did nothing for about 2 weeks. When I called him again, I got no response. 1 week before the 30 day deadline was up, I called him and told him to forget about the whole thing.

I was fed up, especially since I was suckered into paying $600.00 to do something that anyone can legally do themselves. The state fee was only 175.00, and it was to fill out a form that could be filled out by anyone, didn't require a lawyer to do, and would take no more than 2 minutes to fill out. Scott and his office just sat on this for almost 2 months and probably wouldn't have done the job at all hadn't it been for my persistence.

After the state contacted me and told me that the paperwork was wrong, I immediately contacted Scott and his office, and Scott started getting irritated, and very short with me.instead of fixing the problem right away, or at least in the next day or so after making an error on it in the first place, he almost yelled at me, saying essentially, "What do you expect me to do, drop everything just for you?" "This will be handled in time, don't worry about it." He didn't even apologize for the mistake.

Gee, I don't know about you, but if you were promised a simple job be done in a couple of weeks for $600.00 and you were essentially ignored for 2 and 1/2 months wouldn't you be a bit upset? I can't believe the way this guy treated me, especially since I was more than nice, friendly and patient with him, even though he and his office essentially ignored me and didn't do a thing about the problem until I told them to forget about the whole thing.

I have never been more humiliated, and frustrated in my life. An attorney is supposed to represent their clients, not ignore them. I asked for my money back, but Scott said he couldn't do that. He and his office essentially charged me six hundred dollars and delivered nothing but frustration.

He finally "said" that he would refund 150.00 of the 600 paid (really generous, huh), but now he is ignoring my email. I sent him an email the other day asking him when my refund check would be sent, and have had no acknowlegement. He's still ignoring me, after ripping me off.

I highly recommend that you do not do business with this attorney, or his "company".

This attorney and his company are living up to the bad reputation that many attorneys already have. I know that there are indeed some good attorneys out there, but this is not one of them in my opinion.

Don't trust this guy with a penny of your money. Check with other people before paying out your hard earned money for something you probably don't need. He was quick to take my 600.00, but his idea of a "week or two" turned out to be about 2 and 1/2 months before he filed the paperwork, and when it was found out to be done wrong, he ignored me until I got so frustrated with being ignored that I gave up on the whole thing, and decided I didn't want his services.
