Hydrex Pest Control Alameda County ripoff Pest control company Took its Trap but left dead Animal in driveway. Poor Customer service

Warning

This Pest Control company has demonstrated poor customer service. Miss leading and unsafe business practices listed below.

We engaged the services of Hydrex Pest control to remove raccoons who were causing damage and lots of noice up in our inaccessable crawl space in the ceiling. Hydrex was qwick to respond with a contract requesting $ 250.00 for raccoon removal.

Stewart the technician described a great length about raccoon habits and recomendations as to how to prevent entry of raccoons who are nocturnal creatures that sleep during the day and go out at night to feed. The recommendations were to install a 1 way gate latch on the trap door which I installed. So that the raccoons could get out but could not get back in. The Back gate to the basement was secured and holes sealed off. He also went on top of the roof using my ladder to inspect possible points of entry.

On the next visit Stewart arived to attempt to deliver smoke (Fogger) to the attic to encourage a hasty exit for the raccoons.

The Fogger leaked and caused water damage to the stucco around the exhaust fan in the bathroom which was in close to the access to the attic. I just cleaned up the mess and repaired the damage.

The raccoons were quiet for a couple of days then the scratching and movment in our ceiling returned.

We were unable to make an appointment for several days because my wife and both work during the day and Stewart the technician was not in the area.

Stewart came once again gave us the same information and discussed the problem but we wanted the raccoons gone.

Stewart dropped off a raccoon cage in the back of the house with a can of cat food. I had to carry the cage, set the trap in the crawl space under the house. I checked the cage and 1 juvenile raccoon was captured. I called once again. Stewart came over to remove the cage and the raccoon.

The raccoons then were qwiet for a couple of days then the scratching and clawing of the walls started again.

Stewart once again returned explained the same information but said I am just here to help what do you want to do. I was considering cutting a hole in the ceiling and spraying ammonia or using the smoker but my wife was agaist it.

Between every visit was a long delay.
Came over once more brought back the cage dropped it in our back yard I set the trap and baited the trap placed in under the house, hoping that we would catch another raccoon.

After checking the cage there was no racoon. Stewart was notified and He explained to us that the raccoons are very intelligent and they communicate danger to each other and they won't go in the cage. When asked for advice how to get rid of the raccoon. He finally said all we can do is try to trap them.

This time Stewart placed the cage and the bait deep under the house in the crawl space. I looked once every couple of days with the flashlight no raccoons. I assumed there was not any raccoons I stopped looking. Meanwhile the raccoons keep clawing and scratching in the ceiling.

I finally realized that we were on our own at risk of having our home destroyed by the raccoons who refused to leave. The raccoons have been here now for about a month now with no way back in. No animal can survive that long. I called Hydrex again asking for help to discover how they were getting in.

Again after a couple of days an appointment was set. He didn't show up.

Then per are conversation on the phone I was asked to remove the cage from under the house and put it out on the street for pick up. I am a paramedic and I wasn't able to get back home until late when it was too dark to safely remove the cage.

We were then notified via our answering machine that they needed the cage and we would be charged 10 dollars per day that we didn't take the cage out to the driveway for pick up.

I notified Hydrex that I needed them to remove the cage from the basement that not I but my wife would be there to let him in.

No show

I then went under the house on my day off to pull the cage from under the crawl space. Found it to be totally wrapped in plastic and very heavy. Found a juvenile racoon who had died.

I placed the cage in front section of the driveway and confirmed the time of pick up. Hydrex said they would be there between 8-10 AM When I went out my front door I was appalled to find that someone took the cage and removed the raccoon and placed it on the driveway.

It seemed to me that they were upset because I couldn't remove the cage soon enough. When I called hydrex they said that the contract was finished they would remove the raccoon for an additional fee. So Hydrex picked up there property (Cage) and left the dead raccoon in the driveway.

This was a health hazzard to the community. Hydrex business practice showed total disregard for live cats dogs children or animals or consideration to sanitation and or common decency.

I wrote the Contra Costa times and plan to notify Animal control for removal as hydrex has refused further contact. I have tried to contract there e-mail address but messages have been returned (Mailer Daemon)
I will also be notifying the state licensing department to file a complaint. It would be best if they would just remove the dead animal. An apology at least.
