I used Nutrisystems online ordering site to place my first 28-day order with them. The cost was $279 plus shipping. It took about half an hour to select the items I wanted. I sent the order on its way and happily anticipated the resultant delivery.
A very large box arrived within a week. Upon opening it, the packing list informed me that Nutrisystems had made numerous substitutions - about 3/4s of the order, without consulting me or even looking at my original order and trying to follow suit.
They had included items I NEVER would've selected. I don't eat red meat, I'd selected a near-vegetarian meals. But they'd put in several beef meals. I've had gastric bypass surgery, and can't eat sugar-laden foods, so I'd selected only plain oatmeal and egg breakfasts.
I tried to call them, and got put on hold for 20 minutes before I gave up and tried email. I wrote to their customer service and investor relations addresses, but never heard a word back. I went to their online bulletin board and posted what happened. Finally, I got an email from on of their counselors - but not in relation to my complaint. It was a 'how are things going' email. I told the counselor what was wrong, and the next day she wrote back telling me UPS would pick up the box from in front of my front door the next day. That's great, but I happen to work 9-5, and live in an apartment building, so I had to leave the box at the business office (they weren't pleased), and put a big sign on my door informing the UPS driver where to find the box, and to the rest of the world that I wasn't home.
I can't comprehend why Nutrisystems thinks they can substitute foods like that. They don't say that anywhere in the order process, and they put you through a detailed order method.
