We rented a refigerator from Rentway in Malone NY. We were lead to believe that the fridge was a new one, and that we wouyld actually own the fridge some day, in fact if it was paid for by a certain date in full, there would be no interest.
The price of the fridge was $500, mind you we have seen similar fridges brand new for less than this, but they are offering a way to purchase it through weekly payments. They also make claims that they will make any repairs if an appliance is faulty.
The fridge was delivered with dents in it, the lid for the butter dish was torn off, the handle on the door was loose and the screws holding it on were stripped, and the grill that goes on the bottom of the fridge in the front was missing. We complained to the manager, RON, and were told that the problem would be fixed. Several weeks went by and we heard nothing so we called again, Ron asked if replacing the door would be an option and I said yes. Several weeks went by and we heard nothing, we called back and were told he was trying to locate a door. Another week went by, and we called again, RON told us that he had a used fridge in the store, but it looked new and asked if we would consider swapping. We went to the store and checked out the fridge, we agreed to swap. The fridge was a little bigger, but was used, ours was supposed to have been new, so we expected an even swap since they had promised to solve the problem.
At this point Ron told us that if we swapped fridges, we would have to pay more money! He also informed us that he had discounted the original fridge because of the problems, so basically we really had no complaint!!! This is the first we heard this, because as I said, we were lead to believe that the fridge was new to begin with. I am also pretty certain, that I originally asked if the appliances were new, before we had even taken possession or signed anything!!! Not only that, if this was a used scratch and dent fridge why were we charged so much?
I have heard nothing but bad stuff about rentway, unfortunately, it wasnt until I had problems with the myself. I would avoid them if you could, I myself have told them that they can come get their stuff, I will re-purchase these items from more reputable businesses.
