A medical account of mine ($100) went to collection because provider was sending bills addressed to wrong person. The first I knew of the bill was when a collection notice came in my name. I checked with the original creditor about this and made 2 payments of $50 directly to the creditor within 90 days of recieving the notice.
The creditor however, failed to notify CBCS (and their own accountants) about the second payment.in November of when I wondered why the best car loan I could get was 13%, I pulled my credit report and found the CBCS collection as reported as still outstanding. I faxed a copy of the canceled check (cashed in March) to them and to the original creditor.
CBCS now reports that the account was paid in November, over 300 days after collection. I contacted them and a Mr. Meyers read the notes in my file that shows they were contacted by the creditor stating the payment was made in March. Yet, Mr. Meyer said his supervisor informed him that there was nothing they could do and the account would continue to be reported as being paid 300 days late even though they knew this to be wrong.
