Well, the good news is that the delivery did happen on the scheduled day, and right on time (early within the 3 hour window). The washer and dryer we bought were in good shape, no visible scratches.
The bad news is that the delivery people were lazy and rude. First thing they said: "Please tell me that they are going to the main floor" Excuse me? The laundry room is in the basement, one fly of stairs, nothing narrow or extra steep. Then it went from bad to worst. I told them that they just need to put the old washer and dryer at the end of the driveway, exactly by where they just parked their truck. It was as if I had cussed them in the worst possible way. No, apparently they cannot touch the old appliances. Not even to make room to get the new ones in. Boy, that's what I call good service! Guess what, Brick, you just lost a customer for life! Never again!
