My elderly mother recently granted me access to her financial accounts in order to figure out why her money was disappearing so quickly. A review of her credit card statements revealed that United Publisher of America (UPA) of Atlanta, GA was billing her card in the amount of $86.00 per month.
When I inquired about this, my mother stated that she ordered two magazines from the company. I don't read Time or Newsweek, but I doubt the cost of those two rags even begins to approach eighty-six dollars per month. Attempts to clarify and cancel the subsciptions only led to constant transfers between telephone jockeys.in order to prevent further fraudulent billing, I have had to cancel my mother's credit card.
The BBB in Atlanta has received numerous complaints about this company, but they still give them a decent rating because UPA "attempted to resolve" the complaints.
