HERE IS THE E-MAIL I SENT TO ALLSTATE VAN LINES who set up my move with SIRENA MOVING describing the horrible experience I had:
Harryman - I am writing you this email to inform you of how utterly disappointed I am with Allstate and Sirena Movers. I had a HORRIBLE experience with the movers as well as with Maya, whom is the rep for Sirena. You gave me a "locked in quote" that went over by almost $300 and was 3 days late due to a mechanical problem with the moving truck. We attempted for three days to finish paying for the move with the AMEX card that the deposit was paid with, but Sirena's credit card machine was out of service the entire time.in what business functions with their credit card machine out of order? I was offered a discount by Maya after being told day after day that my items would be delivered. They did not show up until Sunday (schedule for Thursday between 12-3pm) and I was only notified 1 hour instead of the 24-48 hours ahead of time. Maya called me 1 hour prior to the delivery and told me that my "discount" was FIFTEEN DOLLARS and she would mail me a check. That's not even 1% of the cost of my move and is an INSULT. When I told her flat out that was a b.S. Discount, she spoke over me and told me she would see what she could do and hopefully I would get a check in the mail. That's laughable and I won't hold my breath. When I called you to revise my quote due to some mirrors and glass items I had, I specifically asked you if I was going to be charged for these items being packed. My quote price increased by $200 which was fine, but you told me "don't worry about the glass the movers will take care of it." Well guess what?! They did. And they charged me extra for it.
As far as your "locked in quote" that was also padded to insure that my weight would not go over the quoted amount, that was a bunch of b. S as well. I had a few items, such as sofa pillows, clothes hangars, and a comforter for my bed that were not on the itemized list. I packed the hangars and comforter in a suitcase, and they movers quickly threw my pillows and some misc. Items in some U-Haul boxes and up-charged me for this. Thanks to you and your "don't worry about it" comments, I didn't question them throwing my misc. Items in these boxed because I thought they were just doing their job. Between you, the drivers/movers, and Maya, there was nothing but hustle, confusion, and misleading for my entire move. I hired ALLSTATE to make the move for me, and I had no idea you guys sub-contracted my order out to a smaller moving company (SIRENA) until it was too late. Also, when I spoke with you, you asked me if the truck would be able to park within 75 feet of my front door. Sure no problem. There was parking right in front of my apt. I lived on the 3rd floor, which consisted of one filght of stairs totaling 14 steps, then one 1/2 flight of stairs consisting of 8 steps, and a 3rd set of steps with 6 steps. For a total of 28 steps. The movers tried to tell Maya that it was a total of 48 stairs and 150 foot total distance. Maya tried some slick talk with me like I was getting a discount because I was not charged for the length fee... Guess what it wasn't 150 feet from my door to their truck! I had my boyfriend go measure with measuring tape from my front door to where the bed of the truck was parked and it was 58 feet TOTAL, including the 28 steps on the stairs. The movers are liars and hustlers. I didn't get any favors done by them not charging me for the distance because I was within my 75 foot limit.
Thanks a lot for setting me up with these people. I wish I would have googled them and scene all of the lengthy complaints on usacomplaints.com as well as with the Better Business Bureau. Apparently they're way of screwing their customers over is a very common occurrence. I too will be making reports with usacomplaints.com and the BBB. The only person who has been caring and helpful to me this whole time has been my customer service rep Margery. She has been consistent with following up with me and doing her best to make sure I was taken care of. You, Maya and the driver/movers all need to get on the same page when it comes to what your tell your clients the details of the actual move are. After speaking with you I though everything was going to be peaches and cream.
When the movers arrived at my new residence I questioned them about they're tactics as well as the lie about the distance from the truck to my front door at the pick up location, and all they did was shrug their shoulders and had no real answers for me. I asked them why was I being told day after day that my stuff would be delivered the next day and it kept being delayed. No answer. The driver also tried to make me sign a piece of paper that says that all my items were received in good condition, the services that were ordered have been performed and fully satisfied, and the truck was inspected and nothing was left that belonged to me BEFORE THEY TOOK ANYTHING OFF THE TRUCK. I told him I'm not signing that paper until they unload and unpack all my things and I inspect my belongings. Just another way for them to try and screw me.
I will NEVER do business with you people again and I will NEVER recommend anyone hiring ALLSTATE or Sirena. I don't know if you have ever heard of the 250 Rule in business. The Rule is that if you have a satisfied happy client they will probably tell 5-10 people about they're great experience. If you have an unhappy client they will be floored and the word can spread to 250 people. I'll be sure to do my best to share my experience so hopefully no one else will be put through this again. Do better.
