I found savebig.com while surfing one day, and was intrigued. It appears to be a penny auction site where you can buy electronics, jewelry, etc. For pennies on the dollar. As with many sites, they require a person to provide their e-mail address and other info before exploring the site in its entirety. After the e-mail address page, they request credit card info, but do not say why. Then, after you give the info and hit "next" you are taken to a page where they say "thank-you, you now have 100 points to use in bidding" or something like that. What happened was that you were just charged $100 for some bid "points" you didn't know you were buying. Requests for refunds go unanswered. (I requested a refund immediately, and then a couple days later when I received no response to my first request.) People who use a credit card can dispute the charge, but people who use a debit card are out of luck, especially if you don't think to notify your bank immediately.
