Jackson Hewitt - told was approved for rapid check - but then wasn't approved - tax return hassles

I am writing to complain about Jackson Hewitt & Santa Barbara bank. I have always went with H&R Block but this year they opened a new store and I tried them, big mistake! I have always been approved for a rapid check at H&R and was told at Jackson Hewitt I was approved right there in the office. I was not. I got a letter from Santa Barbara bank saying I was not after 10 days of not hearing anything about my money. Not to mention that the preparer at Jackson Hewitt messed up my return and put the deductions down wrong and I had to call the IRS to find out what was going on with my return and that it had an error!

All the while being told by the people at Jackson Hewitt "keep calling back it will be here anytime" I took my return to H&R block and they looked over it for free and found the error in minutes and charged me nothing. I took it back to Jackson & Hewitt who refiled it and fixed the error and suppossedly took off the preparer's fee but after getting the notice from Sant Barbara bank that I was turned down for RAL, I find that my tax return in being deposited into an account at Santa Barbara bank and they will charge me $25.00 account set up fee and a &14.00 fee for something I have yet to get a straight answer for. I filed on the 6th, today is the 14th and still no refund, but it is "suppossed" to be here on the 21st of Feb.

You better read the fine print because all of that is in there and yes I signed it with out reading all 10 pages of the crap and theres nothing you can do about it once you apply for a RAL, and like the guy who complained on this website earlier, yes if you owe certain people money (which I do not) they can take it right out of your refund. They do not explain to people all of this stuff at Jackson Hewitt and after trying to get some help with finding out if my corrected return was accepted and whats going on with my money at Jackson Hewitt customer service, all I got was a rude cust. Service rep asking me "well they apologized for the error and they are going to refund your fee's, what else do you want them to do?" "How about find where my money is? For starters and explain to people you are going to team up with Santa Barbara bank who will get "money for nothing" if your RAL is declined.

I could get it direct deposit from the IRS as quick as they will have my money and the IRS is free! In my opinion these people are loan sharks and they are preying on the American public and being deceptive. Do you know at the office I am still being told I was approved for the RAL when Santa Barbara themselves told me there is no way to tell right then in the office? They just lied to me. But this is Jackson Hewitts first year in our small town and if I can help it, their last as I am not the only one who has had problems here. Word of mouth travels fast and word of keyboard travels even faster.

Next year I will file with e-file and not pay anybody anything, but if I do need the money fast, like I did this year to take a trip (I have had to cancel and lost my $250 deposit I sent, due to being told "you will have it in 48 hours for sure" (mind you 10 days has gone by) I will go back to H&R Block if I need it real bad, but as for Jackson Hewitt & Santa Barbara bank, this is our money that we worked hard for all year, you need to be plain and honest and not misleading to people.

I dont mind paying stuff I was made aware of but your $25.00 fee to "open my account" and $14.00 fee for bogus stuff just because my RAL was not approved and you cant charge me the $80.00 for it you want to make it up somewhere else is robbery, come on even Jessie James used a gun! I have talked to 2 Santa Barbara represenatives today and one said the supervisor might overturn the declined RAL and the next said "that never happens", why have I had to do all the leg work on all this, I thought that's why I paid someone else to do my taxes and even purchased a $28.00 gold guarantee, shame, shame, just a note, this new Johnny tax lately called Liberty Tax Service who had people standing out on the street dressed like the statue of liberty handing out coupons for their service (ha ha) was started by the Hewitt guy of Jackson & Hewitt, for what its worth.
