Rich Vreede of Black Cat Entertainment has allegedly been ripping off bands and investors for years. We have bore witness as he purposely ignored contracts and breached them. He often does not pay bands. Since most of the people he rips off can only take him to small claims court, he is able to get away with it by saying he has no money to pay (he had no job as of this report), then the cycle starts all over again with.
During the Valentines Ball on February 12th at the Mayan Theater in downtown Los Angeles, he had to be escorted out of the club after the concert to avoid an angry mob of bands and investors who had been ripped off. Reportedly, one of the main bands he flew out (one way) could not even afford the airfare back home and they had to do a series of fundraising shows to make it home.
Many bands are afraid to publicly complain for fear of being blacklisted by other music promoters and venues, but the reality is, Black Cat often does not pay bands their agreed upon or contracted amount.
