The History Channel had a two hour show called "Apocalypse Island" in January, in which "explorer" Jim Turner claims he found a huge Mayan "monument" on an unknown, uninhabited, inaccessible island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Then he made a website admitting the island is the well known Chilean tourist center, Robinson Crusoe Island. He asks for donations to further his "research" of $25 to $500 through PayPal. The archeologists who have studied the island say there was no human presence on the island before the Spanish discovery in 1574 and the rock formations are just natural basaltic volcanic outcroppings. The island is 3400 miles from the closest Mayan area in Guatemala and over 400 miles from the coast of Chile.
