Actorsonset.com Who are they?
If you have just joined Actorsonset.com, you have just been scammed by a group of some the slimmiest telemarketers out there. Actorsonset.com is a Phoenix, AZ operation that falsely claims to be located in Los Angeles.
AOS displays an LA phone number and I guess technically they can claim they are in Los Angeles. They just forget to mention that the address is a UPS Store rented P.O. Box
They claim to have been in business for years but a simple WHOIS search shows the site was created in April
The Scam
Actorsonset.com preys on the very people that can afford it the least, the unemployed. The victim is usually looking through Craigslist or various Help Wanted sections in either an online or print media when they see something like
FULL TIME PART TIME POSITIONS AVAILABLE $300 PER DAY
So being desperate for a job most call and encounter a very well spoken, very slick salesman. The victim is seduced with "anyone can do this, no experience required, background actors are in high demand and $300 per day."
Who Am I?
My name is Kaley and I wish I could provide more details but per complaint rules I cannot. I can say that I am a veteran background actor and speak from 15 years experience in this industry with over 40 commercials and dozens of film credits.
There are only three places in the USA that have a somewhat regular need for background extras, that being Los Angeles, New York City and Orlando, Florida. AOS will swear up and down that Omaha, NE is an up and coming place for extras LOL.
These jobs in these three places themselves are NOT open to people just walking off the street. 99% of all Casting Directors are Screen Guild Members and as such can only use SAG Union Actors, be it background or character.
The competition is fierce to say the least. For every background extra chosen, 50 were auditioned or cut. Actorsonset.com cannot name a single production or director they worked with.
AOS casting calls are fake. They take them from Craigslist, Variety and even another scam site Explore Talent and list them on their site.
What to do if you are a victim
Immediately call Actorsonset.com and DEMAND a cancellation even it was just 5 minutes ago. If you don't they will pound your Credit Card or Checking Account relentlessly. They are going to try and "Retain" you with down grades, rebuttals asking you "How do you know it wont work if you don't try it"... And try to get you to "explore" the service. This will be used to claim you used the service and therefore agreed and do not deserve a refund.
AOS goal is try and get you to stay for at least 30 days, so they can have grounds to dispute the next step.
Call Your Bank or Credit Card Company NOW
Even if AOS says they are going to cancel, call and dispute the charges or cancel the card. They are going to try and force bill you anyway. They know that only 1 in 4 people will fight over the first charge and only 2 in 4 will have canceled the card by the second charge. If you fail to dispute the charge, you will get burned, no matter what they say.
How to Fight back
1) Respond to this or File A Ripoff report. The more ROR the better.
2) Search out the ads on craigslist and FLAG them. Craigslist is their life's blood and you can severly impact them. Do the same for any online media and contact any print media also.
3) Spread the news as much as possible. Leave comments in blogs, twiiter and list their name as Actorsonset.com. This way we will get as much exposure to AOS as possible.
