There's a new modeling scam surfacing. Luckily I did my research and did not fall for it. Basically they do a casting call on craigslist.com and other similar sites on the web seeking models for a so called national catalog campaign for a non existent designer named Bethy Designer (http://www.alphaomegadigital.com/bethydesigner) - Fake site!

They email you the payment details and get your name and address as to where to mail the check to. They inform you that you will receive a check in a higher amount than agreed and instruct you to send the remaining portion to another party for photo shoot equipment purposes while making a vague excuse as to why they must have you send it instead of them. Please be careful! The check they sent me was drawn on a closed account that looks professional. I'm glad I called their bank first!

This person claims to work for a fashion designer who goes by Bethy Designer (who does not exist based on research). They do provide a fake website showcasing photos that may look like a high end designer, yet their casting states all shapes and sizes which indicates that they want to scheme a wider variety of people.

The person I have encountered went by the following email addresses:

[email protected] and [email protected]

The person who communicated with me went by the name of Eldee Martins but I have several other names which include the name on the check, business owner, the name of whom this person wanted me to wire money to, and so on.

It is possible that someone's identity has been stolen due to the many names involved, but it may be more than one person working together to scam people since they continue to post casting calls online.

Be careful and do not fall victim to any offer which requires you to send money back. Many different schemes revolve around this very idea, of having the victim send money back.
