Rock And Roll Fantasy Camp
These ripoffs play on our fantasy of being a rock star while charging enormous amounts of money to participate and they LIE about what they provide!

Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp offers people the chance to fulfill their dreams to be a "Rock Star" by training with old-timer rock stars. This isn't free and the costs are huge.

My hubby won a free day at RRFC, a $2000.00 value, from a local radio station. Hubby was ecstatic! His dream has always been the rock star dream, and this is exactly what RRFC preys upon.

What the advertisement promised was that you would spend all day with your camp assigned counselor. Camp counselors put together their wanna bees into groups. The groups perform in a battle of the bands and the winner gets to open for Journey and Def Leppard! WOW!

Everyone also gets their photo taken with Journey and Def Leppard during a private meet and greet. Breakfast and lunch is supplied too! Oh yeah, and everything is being hosted by Lynn Hoffman from VH1 Classic. Sounds pretty darn groovy right?

Well, what exactly happened was this. After auditioning in the AM and placed into their bands, assigned a camp counselor, they began learning a song. This song was usually an old hit made popular by the camp counselors band.

There were a few clinics folks could take part in. During the day, you were free to get pics with the counselors, if they were nice enough to be nice back to you. Some were very approachable, while most gave a magazine smile and a vibe to not bother them.

Lunch was served - chicken and tuna sandwiches, then back to the band grind. Before the Battle of the Bands showdown, they had the meet and greet and photos with Journey and Def Leppard. That turned out to be a total joke. Band members did not seem to be happy to share this time with the campers. Everything was in a 'keep it moving' mode. Not at all fun. Plus, only 2 members from Def Leppard were there! BOGUS!

Then the Battle of the Bands. This took place on a little stage in the food concession area of the Germain Amphitheater. They started this event at the same time the gates opened. Where was Lynn Hoffman from VH1? Ah, she left the whole gig half way during the Battle.

After that, the concert w/Journey started. After Journey, they announced the winner of the Battle. Now, the big stage for the winner? NOT! But hey, I guess because they announced that on the big stage, that would be good enough.

Alas, the winner played back on the little side stage just when Def Leppard was starting! Bogus! Hardly anyone was there to even watch! And, the band they announced as the winner was not the same band that won. LOL! What a total sham.

Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp gave the complete impression that the bands would be performing as the opening act, giving everyone who each paid $2000.00 the impression that they would be playing on the main stage. Most everyone there, like over 90 people who paid, did have the impression they would be playing on the big stage. Now, RRFC made over $175,000 on these people. Many people there flew in from all over the U.S. To take part in this and they had to pay for their hotel rooms and food. This was a very expensive deal and for most people, a once in a lifetime splurge. And if any of the people want any memorabilia, they have to pay $50.00 for the DVD and ridiculously expensive prices for the photos! Jeezie Creezie man, couldn't they at least give them a free picture? LOL! BOGUS!!!

If you want to be a rock star for a day or week and you have $2,000 for the day, or maybe $9,500 for the 5 day camp in Hollywood, that is money that you can toss away, then go for it. But for most of us paycheck to paycheck people, well, grab your ankles cuz you are going to be f*.
