Ripoff NOT the friendliest casino for employees egnores state and federal liquor laws unfair employee employer relations bad human rescources not listed an equal opportunity employe

I started working for Angel of the Winds casino in 2004. When we started we were told it was going to be a fun place to work and we were to keep it light, even in security. The first 3 months were great. We were even given I started working for Angel of the Winds casino in 2004. When we started we were told it was going to be a fun place to work and we were to keep it light, even in security. The first 3 months were great. Then slowly it started going down hill.

"The friendliest casino in the World" wasn't so friendly to the employees. We were even given security personnel phone numbers to call and cover for us if something happened and we couldn't make it in. It started going down hill fast though. "The friendliest casino in the World" wasn't so friendly to the employees.
Taking my job seriously, I learned the internal controls, Tribal Compact, and what was expected from Federal and State laws, though it is a tribal casino. I worked well with the Tribal Gaming department, and had a great Manager. Unfortunately the security manager was told to do things that went against the rules and regulations that we were to follow, and he refused. He was then told to quit or they'd find a way to fire him. He quit and kept his integrity.

I had worked up to the position of Security Supervisor, day shift. I was the one who then had to deal with the controller, general manager, H.R. And schedule 27-30 officers. I had gone to the class 12 mixology class, was a first responder in 1st aid situations, and was called upon for decisions that had to be made in the Security department (with no pay raise). There were too many incidences of people being falling down intoxicated still allowed to play at the card tables. Security is not liked by Casino's I found out in short order. We and the servers had our hands tied and were told that in order to have a patron cut off from drinking we had to get permission from the floor supervisor in table games or TLS! This was contrary to our compact and did not keep separation of the Security Department from the other departments.

Table games didn't want to give up a person who was tipping and loosing big due to over service. I was also concerned about the security officers under me, who could possibly face 3rd party liability suits if someone got past them, drove and got into an accident. After months of bringing this to the attention of the General Manager, H.R. And the new Director of House Operations and being blown off by them, even scolded for reporting the Table Games Manager's actions or lack of, I went home and emailed the liquor control board, anonymously. I was emailed by a person at the liquor control board and I told them I didn't want them to know who contacted the board. I was assured everything was kept anonymous and that they'd check into it. The day someone from the board went out I was fired for "disclosing casino information to an outside source!" When I confronted the DOHO about who the outside source was he said "The Liquor Control board. You are the only Gypsy Brokenwings who works here!"

I went through 2 de-briefing meetings with Tribal Gaming about the problems with the casino, after that. I had also requested in writing a hearing. H.R. Refused to give me one.

I contacted a local attorney, but after months of waiting on them was told the only one they knew of to deal with Tribal law was 62 miles away. Being un-employed that wasn't an option.

Beware of working for this casino!
