I moved to Jacksonville, NC in 2008. I was living in Las Vegas, NV at the time and could only research rental properties and realtors via the internet. I went with Re/Max Real Estate Solutions in Jacksonville in part because a property that I found listed by the owner on Craigslist showed them as the property manager for the home. Grave mistake. The first property manager that I had, somehow lost my initial move in inspection and after months of already living there, asked for a new one. Of course, in time, things get overlooked as you become accustomed to seeing a flaw day in and day out so my second checklist wasn't as thorough as my first. That ended up biting me because the second property manager I dealt with, knew of issues with the home that were pointed out to her during a surprise walk through with the home owner one day, but upon my vacating, she still charged me for them! I called her and was greeted with nothing but attitude! She told me she spoke to the owners (who are dirt bags as well) and they had zero problem charging me for issues they knew their pets created! I can promise you this, I will warn everyone I can to stay as far away from that realtor office.
