My mortgage servicing was sold to Green Tree by Bank of America, who still holds the note. Green Tree does everything possible to make it impossible for me to make a payment and avoid either a late fee or $12.00 service fee because they have to go through Western Union (!?). They tell you one thing, or one part of one thing, and you go out of your way to accomodate their horribly inconvenient policies and then something else pops up that makes it undoable. They do nothing but spew generic and irrelevant scripts about due dates and company procedures and and how you have no choice over who your mortgage gets sold to, and do not listen at all to personal or extenuating circumstances - even those cause by themselves. Maybe the people you talk to are just doing their jobs, but they should all find different jobs so their daily actions aren't contributing to the mental and emotional distress of people just trying to get by!
