Extra Space Storage at Earhart court in Gaithersburg md very very bad customer experience. I have used u-haul before and they were good. Piece of advice. Do not walk in to this trap. Do not rent with these people if you want to get your property back. I rented a storage space with them for 12 months which i paid and i was out of town and was three months $180 plus a lein of $80. I came back called them to pay, on the 6th (auction wa sfor the 7th) a very rude employee told me that i would have to call the next dat at 9:30am to speak to Jenny the site manager. I called at 9:30 and the phones were not going through, finally got her at 10.01 am and she said that someone had already bid and that i should talk to the District manager Steve who could reverse the decision. I called Steve but he was not at the office someone sent him an email. Steve called me back later and told me that the uniy had been acutioned that morning. I asked him if i could offer the bidder money, and he sadi he would try and talk to them. Well i did not here back from Steve until i called the next day and he said thet they were going to keep my personal stuff in the office and they would call me to know when i can pcik them up. Three days later no one has called me, Steve lied to me and their phones do not work. This is a predatory stoarge facility. I rented space for more than a year of fully paid rent except the last three that were late, their online payment portal does not work either. I belive they have even sold my college books and sinply they do not care state that its becuase of Maryland law so i gues they can do whatver it is they please becuase the law is on their side. Like said, I have store with U -haul for two years with no problem. U-haul would call me if there was an issue. Let me just say, that for an organisation that interfaces with customers, the customer service skills of Jenny and the rest of the front office crew is very very poor and condesceding. Furthermore there is no diversity in this location, raising some labor questions about there hiring pratices. I think this company needs to be investogated by the Montgomery county consumer affair, The Federal Trade Commission, and BBB, and the Justice department. I will take my complaint to the media and internet as well. The promise that they would take my personl effects to the office is just a ploy to get you off the phone and all this coming from a so called district manager. This is the worst experience i have ever had with a company. They treat people of color like they are some criminals, even the auctioneers (cartel) no diversity. So i will go to file a small claims court and have my day in court.
