The only thing we liked about Smart Carpet was the salesman and apparently he was just a nice guy that wore a good poker face. The quality of the carpet wasn't anywhere near the carpet we were replaceing which was a builders grade. The price to even come close was ridiculous. The salesman swore that their installers were all their own employees and never subcontracted. WRONG! The installation team that showed up were subcontracted and one of them had just began his career as a carpet installer and had previously worked as a roofer. They did a very inferior job and actually cut a piece on the stairs too short to fit so they had to re-order and schedule another installation time. I called the company and voiced my complaints and they assured me that another installation team would be coming to install the re-order and they would fix all the mistakes the first crew made. This team was better and they were appalled at how the carpet was installed. They fixed alot but I still had to contact a manager and have him come out and look at the inferior quality of the installation. Yet another team came, causing me to take off a third day from work. They fixed as much as they could but you can still see that the carpet will never last as long as it should. It has been a little over a year and there are already pieces of binding on the stairs that I have had to glue and tuck under so they didn't unravel. We receieved no compensation for the inferior job and the company did not even admit to anything other than the first team being under qualified to install carpet. NEVER again, will I use them or recommend them to anyone.
