Heritage Apartment Homes in Las Vegas
Health at Risk / Apartment staff not caring!

We recently view the apartments and decided we liked them so we proceeded with the necessary steps to make it final. We started our paper work April 8 and our move in date was to be for April 24. Our key pick up and final signage was done on that same day of the 24th. We did our walked through April 21 and upon entering the apartment that was assigned for us there was an mild musty odor smell inside of the apartment, I asked the office rep that was doing the walked through what was that smell and she replied maybe it’s from when they cleaned the carpet so we continued the walked through and found multiple minor issues in the process of the inspection that was listed on our inspection list. So the day of April 25 we started moving our personal items from the old address to the new address. The day of April 26 we moved more of our belongings to the new apartment, that night we decided to stay and sleep at the new place. When waking up the morning of the 27th at 6am the entire household woke up very light headed with a nausea's feeling myself, my husband and my child and couldn’t figure out why. My husband stated maybe it has to do with that smell that we smelled from the earlier walk through, I then said” yeah maybe” and thought nothing more of it, so we continued to start our day hoping the nausea's feeling will just go away and eventually it did. We made it back to the apartment after being gone the entire day, that night a little after 8pm being we were still getting everything situated with the old place. The night of the 27th we slept at the above address, instantly my husband, myself and my son got light headed yet again my husband started saying” There something wrong with this place I know it! ” So I advised them to lye down and sleep it off. The morning of the 28th everyone awakened to having a headache, dizziness and breathing very heavy and my husband started vomiting. He said (my husband)”that’s enough, I’m not going to have my family in this place getting sick.” The office had yet to open so we re-rented a U-Haul to get our personal items out of the apartment until we spoke to someone in the front office. Once the office opened we went in and was greeted by Evelyn we immediately asked her if there was a property manager that we can speak with regarding an issue with the apartment because we have been getting sick or do she know if the previous tenants ever had a complaint about a smell or has there ever been any water damage in the apartment? But she wouldn’t give us any information. She then replied”No! There no one here for you to speak with (and we later found out she lied about not having an available property manager) so we proceeded to tell her the situation being there was no one else she said we can speak to. Within the middle of us telling the female staff worker a guy walks out and introduce himself as a service manager, so we reiterated the issues once again to the Service Manager and he replied with a nasty tone ” I’ll get someone to the unit whenever I get a chance”. Myself and my husband are now drawn back by the reaction of his unprofessionalism and unsympathetic attitude toward us. So at this point we demanded he send someone out A.S.A. P, being that our health is at risk and we are new tenants trying get the apartment situated so we can move in. All of a sudden another guy walks out of the office that we later found out was the property manager that the female staff worker lied about when we initially asked for the property manager and she said he wasn’t there. The property manager by the name of * immediately came out of the office with a nonchalant attitude didn’t even introduce himself and stated that we are being mean to his staff. I then looked at the female staff member who had been assisting us and asked her in front of the property manager “have we been being mean to you in anyway and she said” No” the property manger then says didn’t you hear him (service manager) he told you he’s going to get someone out there whenever he get a chance”. We then demanded to cancel our lease right then a there being the property manger himself is not even concerned with the well being of our health. The property manager then said “NO I just can’t cancel your lease wait until we send someone to the unit it will take about 10minutes to test for mold”. My husband then replied” you can’t test for mold in 10 min you need to get a mold specialist out here before we can move into that apartment. Joe was being so rude and very loudly said” SO WHAT DO YOU WANT US TO DO? ” he was un apologetic. We asked if we could just cancel our lease being we just started to move in and we are being treated very bad and extremely being disrespected no one with in the office is concerned about our health or even offered us a resolution. Joe then said someone looked at the apartment and there’s nothing wrong with it. So we asked did they do a test. Joe then said” No! ” if you have a problem called the health department and report it if you think there’s mold. So we said if it’s not mold something in the apartment is making us sick and we can not sleep in the apartment another night.

So we are currently getting the health department involved and the local news station being another tenant said she had mold in her apartment as well. The property manger doesn’t want to try to resolve the situation by doing some sort of testing, moving us in another unit, or just canceling our lease with out penalties being we have yet to stay in the apartment. I have never experienced that kind of treatment in my entire life, never experience the rude unprofessionalism from someone that holds that sort of position as property manager and I’m expected to want to be a future tenant, absolutely NOT. I will never refer anyone to Heritage Estates Apartment Homes. I haven't even been in the apartment for a full 2days when this accured and we have been treated in the worst way possible. They have yet to call to even try to offer us another unit, ask about our health, or even resolve the situation in anyway. We even asked the property manager for a contact number to the Corporate office but he wouldn't give us that information very rudely told us to check the web site which we did and it doesn't have any information on contacting corporate office.
