If you have ever known a service member then perhaps you have gotten a glimpse into how difficult their lives can be. My husband is in the US navy and we have two children together. We have been living on ft meade for 2 years now and I WISH I could say it has been a positive experience... But an "experience" is about all I can sum it up to be.
Our current problems are: the fridge is leaking, from the freezer (that doesnt even make ice) into the entire fridge through the light - yes! The light. Im not a rocket scientist or anything but water electricity usually = many many bad things. But there it goes drip drip drip.
Besides the looming horrible house fire / explosion / whatever happening currently in my kitchen. I can hear the rats in my wall. Again, I feel the need to mention - I have two children. TWO - and they are under the age of two. I have had ticks in this house. I have had roaches. I have had spiders. I have had every possible thing living in this house rear its ugly head. And now rats. Its enough to literally drive a mother to run screaming out of her house. If you can even call it that.
Furthermore. Among many, and I mean MANY other occurances, our gas stove... Turns on randomly - no fire, just gas. Im convinced my house wants me dead. Our walls / ceilings crack so horribly sometimes they literally look as if they are going to be falling in on us. Disturbing. We can hear every noise being made by every neighbor within sight, including bedroom and bathroom.
The morale to this story boys and girls... If you have a service member in your life for whom YOU would lovingly give YOUR life for... Spare them the disaster of PICERNE military housing - you will be a much happier person and your marriage may thank you as well. Best of luck.
