I was terminated from this company because they said I didn't report to work when I was told to. On April I was put on short term disability due to a heart condition. This was approved through October 1. I also applied for long term disability because my health had not improved and I felt I could not perform my job as claim processor associate at the time. I was denied long term disability by this company, but the state approved me for disability in March. I was also told my termination date was July, due to the fact that my family leave had expired. I was contacted by my supervisor maybe 3 or 4 times during this process; of which I had to due the contacting. I feel I was treated unfairly, and discriminated against due to health issues. I have had duress and emotional problems due to this situation and also financially I had to file bankruptcy. I am in therapy. I not only was terminated, but embarrased by this because I was a very good, loyal employee. I had a severe case of peumonia in November and they expected me to report to work the following Monday after I came home from the hospital, which I stayed for 6 days, and was sent home with a breathing machine. I feel that this company should have to take responsiblity for the pain and emotional duress that I have been put in.
