My name is Randy Flax and i am currently out of work because of my second neck surgery. I am going for my third surgery next month. My complaint is i was on short term disability for a term of 6 months before my long term disability started. After about 6-8 weeks my short term payments stopped. I called the company and they told me it was under appeal and their medical review team was going over it. I received a phone call yesterday from Melissa Soto explaining my claim was denied. I asked her will my claim restart after my third operation and she said "CASE CLOSED" I have worked for the same company for almost 15 years and now i cant work any longer. My job was answering phones and doing computer work for 8 hrs day. Since my operation i can only sit at computer for about an hour before i have to lay down and take a break for a few hrs because of the extreme pain. When i asked her why i was denied she said the doctor didnt put down what my restrictions were. I told her i am on full restrictions and if she would have asked this or had any forms for the doctor to fill out he would have told her that also. I feel they scammed me because my long term disability starts on feb 1st. And the long term disability was voluntary. The employees that wanted it paid it on their own. The company stopped paying it for the employees. All is she says to me is keep appealing. Where is this getting me. I have to pay my own medical under Cobra which is $600 a month. Im sure im not the only person to ever go thru this and wont be the last. I worked all my life and now that i honestly need the money and help i got SCREWED. I hope you can help me...
