In the city of San Gabriel, there is no overnight parking. But you cannot find this information anywhere tangible, let alone where it should be posted, on the street. Most signs in this city read " 2 HOUR PARKING 8AM-6PM EXCEPT SUNDAY", which, from the context, one can assume that one can park for free after 6PM. This not the case. What one must do is:
1) Go to a designated ticket printing machine (located at local area police stations)
2) Pay exactly 3 dollars (machines do not dispense change)
3) Write your license plate number on the overnight pass which is dispensed.
I got a $45 ticket not because I did not get the pass, but because I failed to write my license plate# on the ticket. The worst part is you cannot refute the ticket in a court of law. You have to go to the police station and refute it there.
The city's rational for the non signage is that it is posted on their web site and at the "major entrances" to the city.
