Complaint / Review
David Hazan, DDS
Dentist Altamonte Springs, Dental Experience orlando, Over charge for root canal

On the 15th of February a Friday night I was overwhelmed with mouth pain and numbness and started to seriously get worried about my teeth. It is very hard to find a dentist in the area on a Friday night so I tried to tough it out, but by Saturday I was in so much pain I went to an emergency centra care facility locally in Orlando and the doctor gave me some pain medication and a phone number to an emergency dentist. I called David Hazan and he said he is open and come over to his office in Altamonte Springs. I told him I'm on my way and showed up about fifteen minutes later.

David Hazan told me it was going to be a charge for the x-rays which I was fine with, upon the initial x-ray he said he would have to do another x-ray and I would be charged again. I found this puzzling since I figured I would pay once for x-rays not for each x-ray but I gave him an additional payment for another x-ray.

Now I'm in serious pain and sitting in his chair and David Hazan tells me that I need a root canal done because I have some blockage and that is where the pain is coming from and the numbness. He proceeds to tell me that the price of this root canal will be $1540 to get it taken care of right there and now. I'm sitting in his chair with my mouth wide open and the device still in my mouth to hold it open when he asks do you want me to put it on that same card this charge? I said If that will make this numbness and pain go away then I agree to the charge. Well the Dentist proceeds to do the root canal, now I have had a root canal before and I feel like this Dentist was going for the world record in speed on this root canal, because I was done within 20 minutes.

After 20 minutes he said okay all done and leaves the room. I asked what is this feeling along the back of the tooth and he replied he still needs to get it polished. For $1500 why wasn't it polished right then? I went home and researched on root canals and the average cost of one without insurance and the highest I found was $800. I also scheduled an appointment for another Dentist that Monday and asked him what he would charge for the Root Canal in tooth #10 and he said $550 if you have no insurance.

I have tried e-mailing David Hazan with no reply and I feel that his practice is very deceptive and taking advantage of consumers situations.in no way should he be charging almost three times the amount for a root canal. If something isn't done about my situation I will put together a couple of websites with this complaint and make sure I market them on search engines so no other customers go to his office.
