Scam

I find companies like this dispicable. Running under three different names, all doing the same crap.
Ripping people off.
Tri Universal/Rockstar Marketing/Level 1 Enterprises.
I sent a resume to them after reading their ad on craigslist, and they sent me an email telling me to call them to set up an interview, which I did. At which point I was invited to an interview.

After that interview I was invited to do a trial day with them, which I was tricked into going to. They drove me about 50 miles from home, and made me stand in the hot sun for over 8 hours and peddle crap (that could have been bought at the 99cent store) for double or even triple the price to innocent shoppers believing their hard earned money was going to help the DARE program and children.

So after the one trial day with them, I realized they were a scam and knew that I shouldn't waste my time with them. And decided that if I ever saw someone outside of a store doing the same crap they made me do for a day, that I would let the store manager know what kind of people they have outside their stores.

So, yesterday, I was at the local bank. And who do I see outside, none other than a young man in business attire, with a table that looked all too familiar. Dressed up with toys, and DARE t-shirts. So, when I went in the bank I asked the teller if she knew what the kid outside was selling. I also explained to her that I had done something like that not too long ago and that I believed that the company he worked for was running a scam. She told me that she didn't know that there was a kid outside, and that he probably wasn't allowed to be there, and that she would notify a manager to go speak to him. Apparently he talked his way into being there since my sister saw someone out there in business attire with the same table today. And today, as I was driving past the local grocery store saw yet another young man in business attire with DARE t-shirts and childrens toys decorating a table. I decided that I might as well try and tell someone at the store what I thought was a scam being run right outside.

As I approached the store the young man did exactly what I did not so many months ago, and tried to entice me to purchase a children's umbrella. I asked him if he worked for Tri-Universal, and with no delay he said, "Yes Ma'am, I sure do", which was all I needed to hear as I entered the store. I explained what I had experienced from this company to an employee as I waited to speak to someone in charge, who then sent the employee outside to ask the young man if he had permission to be there. Which apparently he did, or he has honed in on his lying skills like all those who make a "career" out of working for these companies.

When I got home, I decided I would call DARE America to ask them if they were okay with these people scamming shoppers. The woman that I spoke to on the phone told me that, in fact, DARE America does have a sponser by the name of Tri-Universal. So, I asked her if she knew that the people outside these stores were trying to hock up the prices on these products, and she said that DARE did know and was completely okay with this.

I don't know which upsets me more. The fact that there are people out there who start companies to rip people off, or that reputable companies allow these ripoff companies to use their good name and allow the public to be fooled into "helping a good cause".
