Let me begin with telling you all alittle about the CPS office here in San Antonio - Well the local news constantly has reports of the small comings of the department that is so post to protect the children. Anyways, I always thought it was just an exageration but little did I know untill it hit too close to home with my nieces.
My sister was seperating from her husband of six years and left Hidalgo county for San Antonio with her three children ages 9 months and twins at the age of 5. Shorthly there after thier arrival in San Antonio the girls began experiencing horrendous nightmares where they would scream out "No, Daddy do not eat my sister's private!" Naturally we were all disturbed by this and got in contact with the CPS office here in San Antonio to report the girls claims.
The process was slow and the girls and my sister were interviewed numerous of times. The case worker looked into a claim she made when the girls were a year old and she had strong suspecions and left him because of them and came her in 2003. Basically then as was now she was treated as a liar and a bitter scornful woman seeking to punish her husband for her own unhappines.
She was threatened that if her acuizations were found to be unsupported she could face legal punishment. Her girls were not able to verbalize what was taking place so the case was closed and she later reconsilled with her husband. Now, furthur suspicion drove her away again but the girls didn't speak out till out of the eviroment. CPS put my sister through hell not once but twice.
If only they would of taken the measures to investigate the situation without thier own mindless interogation tactics, they would of saved the girls from going through this a second time. The process has been slow and humiliating for our entire family, but we are rallying behind my sister and voicing the acuizations from my nices with more intensity.
My sisters divorce came to a hearing this month and just as we expected CPS was unprepared and we couldn't even get in contact with the case worker for guidance. To make matters worse my sister's husband to the stand under oath and stated that the CPS officer that contacted him notified him that my sister was a vengful, manipulating liar. We don't know what to believe. He is a liar afterall, but CPS hasn't shown us any different thus far.
CPS needs major improvements in order to insure the safety of children. Reading the reports by other members is even more scarier, to see it take place out side of home when its hitting so close here.
