Rip-off! They play on poor judgement and use massive manipulation

I just wanted to say that I personally was only in this buisness for one day. I had the initial interview the day after calling in reference to the ad in my local newspaper. It read "Christmas Help, $300-$500 weekly potiential." There was no address, but a number to call. So I called. The lady on the phone informed me they were setting up interviews for the coming days and had very little room for more interviews. She set me up for an appointment that day for later in the afternoon. When I appeard at my scheduled time I heard loud music comming from another room. I started to feel as though this place was not in fact what it was said to be. I remained patient.

After about 30 minutes I was called in the next room. I was introduced to a guy named Brian (maybe Bryan) and he stated the elusive statement everyone loves " THIS BUISNESS IS NOT 4 EVCERYONE. He went on to finding out if I was motivated and looking for advancement. With the interview approaching its end he told me to be expecting a call anytime between the following day and and almost a week from then. So I went out of town later that day and a representative called me that same evening congratulating me telling me I was one of the few that made the call back. He then asked me if I could come in the next morning at 9:00am and said to dress professional with no heels.

The next morning I rushed back to town to start my new job. Upon enterning the building I was told to complete a form stating that what ever work I was going to do for the day was only for evaluation and I would not be getting paid for it. Though I was hesitant I signed it anyway hoping that the following day I might be considered and employee and thus fill out tax forms.

There were seven of us in the waiting area (if that's what you would call it, it was so tiny with only 5 chairs). The owner Brian came in and told me and another trainee we were to be going with him. He failed to tell where we were going and we failed to ask. The drive ended in Milan, TN where he told us we were going door to door to sell products such as toy cars for $39.99 that were also sold at Radio Shack for almost $150 bucks, manicure sets for $5 also sold at Sally's Beauty Supply for nearly $50 bucks, a box set of 12 candles sold for $3 also sold at Bed Bath and Beyond for like $20 bucks, and a watch set for $19.99 also sold at Macy's for $180. If you bought one watch set you got one "free".

He later told us it wasn't really buy one get one but rather buy one at $10.00 get another at $10.00. He was actually selling two watch sets for $20.00, not buy one for $19.99 get one free. We went to almost 60 places and sold nearly $900 worth of merchandise. We started work at 9:00 A.M. And headed back to the office around 6:00 P.M. When we got to the office we were told to take a test on the conventional forms of advertising, The law of averages (the system for finding buyers), the 5 steps to a conversation (the system for building impulse), and the factors of impulse (tools used to enhance the 5 steps). I took the test and passed with flying colors.

Then I had another interview where he told me I had opportunities to advance in his company and possibly own my own one day. He and his staff welcomed me to the company and told me to be at work the next morning at 6:45 A.M. Sharp doing the same thing different town. So I went home to get rest for the next long day ahead. The next morning I recieved a call from the guy that trained with me the day before. He informed me that someone in his family was sckeptical and had been on this web site and found similar stories relating to the same kind of busness as NuGrowth, Inc.

The more stories I read, the more horrified I became. Had I really fallen victim to the same things? Needless to say I didn't get brain washed but I do feel as though I have learned something valuable. I'll definately never forget it. I am concerned for others and would highly reccomend that anyone interested in this type of busness thoroughly do some back groung checks. I am sure that most of you will find that the buisnesshas not been there for very long and the owners are more than likely young and have no college experience and hardly a high school diploma. Brian (the owner of NuGrowth, Inc.) is a 21 year old guy with a buisnessliscense.

How in the world this company continues is a mystery to me. They play on poor judgement and use massive manipulation. They are the best cons in this world because they're in sales. They feed off of ignorance and a lack of knowledge and scam thousands daily.

BEWARE! Stop and realize you can change one part of the world or at least one person it in by doing honest and dependable work! We all have goals and we all have dreams, but this is not the way to accopmplish anything, unless you enjoy fraud. It IS NOT a get rich fast scheme. I urge everyone reading this to use caution when or if you find yourself in a situation like ours. My prayers go out to you that see nothing wrong with this pitcure and think that "We failed as employees and are slandering companies to make ourselves feel better". That is not my intention at all.

I am not slandering anyone or any company. I was raised not to tell a lie no matter what the outcome, with that said I feel I have done no wrong by telling the truth with hopes that I might help someone get out of a bad situation. Or keep them from getting involved to start. My condolences to those who have suffered and been cheated. I feel betrayed too. To the rest of you I wish great luck in finding jobs sufficient to your needs and wants. It is a journey we all must take. To those of you who get angry over the forums posted only to warn others with good intentions, why do you come here??? To see something that makes you mad so you can then write ugly statements in return??? What does that accomplish?

Everyone has a right to their opinion yes, but that doesn't mean you should come on here and post almost harassing material because you don't agree with someone's story. There are ways to express your views aside from disrespecting another person. If I'm not mistaken, this site was built for people who have been scammed, or know someone that could be potientialy scammed, or are concerned and just want to know. I personally don't see room on this site for people just looking to bad mouth others. It should be strictly for people willing to soak in the information and use it best to their knowledge. This site was intended to educate people whom of which feel as though their occupation should be questioned, and therefor demand further information. On that note here is the information I was given...

The 5 Steps To A Conversation (System for building impulse)

1. The intro - S.E.E. Smile, eye to eye contact, enthusiasm
2. The Short Story - K.I.S.S. Keep it short and simple
3. The Presentation - put murchandise in customer's hand,
stress the deal, retail vs. Wholesale.
4. Close - Qualify-"Does that sound like a fair deal"
Assume the sale " How many can I get for you"
5. R.E.H.A.S.H.- Remember everyone has a stash hidden.
"Since you helped me out with that"
Give customers a 3 price breakdown
1.in Wal-Mart they're $39, $40 "bucks"
2. I've been getting for $19.99-$20.00 "bucks"
3. But since you helped me out with that take yours at my cost
just $9.99
DO NOT USE
1. Buy
2. Sell
3. Dollars

Factors of Impulse (tools used to enhance the 5 steps)
1. Jones Effect - Direct references to past sales
2. Sense of urgency - yes or no I gotta go
3. Fear of loss - I started out with 30, I onoly have 3 left.
4.indefference of Attitude - It's only a deal if you can use
it, you don't have to buy anything.
5. Greed - Stress the deal, stress the savings
6. Suggestions - Give examples or what product could be used for.

Law of Averages (the system for finding buyers)
1. Seat 200-300 people daily (one out of every ten will buy)
2. Have a great attitude
3. Work your territory correctly
a. Do not skip a door
b. Do not skip a person
c. Do not prejudge a person
These things you may have seen with your company or buisness. If you do, these are the warning signs.

NuGrowth, Inc. Also has an independant magazine entitled "Juice"
Throughout the day I heard the owner use the phrase
"Juice Badaa" a hundred times. He used it as a way to say "cool" or to agree with something, and also to symbolize excitement.

Oh and did I forget to mention that his 3,000lb vehicle ran out of gas in Milan, TN and him and the other trainee had to push the vehicle uphill for over a mile while I steered? Some women stopped with a truck and finally pulled us to a gas station but we still had no brakes so when we were pulled into the gas station the line broke and we were rolling out the other entrance and couldn't stop. A police officer helped push us again to the pumps. The owner gave the women boxes of candles for free for helping us, and gave me and the other trainee an energy drink. He also bummed cigarettes off me the entire day and when I was done with my test and congratulated on being a new employee I then asked for cigarette money. I won't be going back for that matter.
