Ripoff, dishonest, cheated employees and screwed the customers even more

Like other recent college graduates, I have had problems finding work, especially in my field. I had a car payment, student loans, etc due with in the next week or so. I answered an Ad in the paper that said, "Great opportunity earn $400 or more a week. Call Tony."
I called the number the woman asked if I was answering the ad, and I said yes.

I made an interview for the next day. When I arrived there were 4 other people in the waiting room of a run down warehouse. We waited for the owner, John, for our interviews one at the time. Each person spent less then 5 minutes as he explained what a great compnay this was, but not going into detail about the job.

Of course I agreed to what they call an "Day of O", observation, the next day, a Friday. I traveled with one of the leaders and a new distributor to a far off region in the state - about a 2 hour drive.in the crowded 2 door car filled with pasta pots, candles, and space shooters we finally arrived at our first stop. I thought that we would be selling to any little store that would buy for resale, but that was not the case.

They pitched to anything that moved.By the end of the day, about 5:45, we finally arrived back to the warehouse. I went to talk to the owner he asked me if I was interested. Of course I said yes because I had all of those bills I had to pay. My family did not agree to me taking this job, and I promised them that I would quit after our vacation.

On Monday I arrived at 7 in the morning for a day of work. The smokers we all outside puffing away. I walked through to fill out more paper work.By then most of the crew had arrived for work. A couple of other new workers were talking about the money we would make. Someone said that they could use the college reimbursment.

We stayed in a very hot room with no air circulation practicing pitches and learning the 5 steps. Then we finally divided up into teams and went to the warehouse for the goods of the day and to load the cars. We went back into the hot room to be inspired about our future success, how the 5 steps were very important, and other factors that will help us sell and yelled JUICE a lot. They also tell us to go into all businesses even the "No Soliciting". They also teach that we are not solicitors but wholesalers.

We went to another territory where we did not sell a lot of items because people are not interested. We came back to the warehouse about 5:30 turned in our products or "good deals" and settled our money with the owner, which I only made $25 that day. The next day we used my SUV which in a way I was glad. We went to a place about 2 hours away then came back. We did ok that say bringing home about $30each.

By the end of the week I probably made almost $150, and spent $120 on food, water, and gas for my SUV. Also, by the end of the week, I had learned about a couple of peoples personal life. Like the owner, who was engaged or married to one worker while sleeping with someone who was barely of age, and how he is no longer with either one because he cheated on her and the other girl cheated on him. A couple of the employees decided to have a party at his house on Saturday night then he was going to others on a boat trip the next day.

The next week I only worked a couple of days because I was going on vacation for the rest of the week. I came back sunburnt and still tired of the long car ride back from the vacation spot. I was placed with a guy who I could not tollerate very much. We did not do very well that day. I brought home $22 minus food, gas, and water = $5. I told my leader earlier that I had an interview the next day.

When I got back settled my cost, the owner was like see you tomorrow, and I told him no that I had an interview the next day. He blurted out that, "If you were here everyday and on time you would not need another job. You could be successful if you applied yourself." I just walked out of the office with out saying another word. I was at the office on time everday that I worked except for those couple of days of vacation.

My SUV now has a broken seat where someone has broke the handle off of it, I put 1500 of unwanted miles on my car because I was driving it everyday, and I only made $200 which $150 of it was spent on gas, food, and water.
The only thing that I have gained from this job was a couple of business card from insurance companies saying that I would make a great agent. Another point, there is no Tony, no college reimbursement, or anything that they put in there ads to make the job sound great and wonderfull because it is not.

My only warning is that if anyone is thinking about answering an ad that sounds to good to be true then it is. Do not answer an ad that does not have a company name, address, or a persons full name.
