After purchasing a Deka 30 Watts CO2 SmartXide from Deka Medical manufactured on May of approximately 19 months later the laser started losing power and after two years the peak power dropped from 30 Watts to 12 Watts.

I spoke to the Deka service representative (referred to me by Deka in Italy) and was told the CO2 tubes typically only last 3 to 5 years. The sales rep and the CEO Dale Koop still contend the tube has a Mean Time Between Failures of over 10 years. Even with a warranty, such downtime is unacceptable.

At one point the service rep actually confused me with another client stating, "Your system is at least 4 years old so a new tube would not be uncommon."

Something just doesn't add up. Now the CEO of Deka, Dale Koop, states I must now pay an additional $8,400 to have the CO2 tube replaced. The laser is only 2 years old and we only used it on 5 clients!

I'll be setting up a website to collect Deka CO2 tube related issues.
