I have been a victim of identity theft two separate times this year. First in March then again in September. I asked the bank to put a hold on my account because I am disabled and receive my checks through direct deposit. I was evicted from the identity theft and did not have an address to open a new account and close the old one.
The bank did freeze my ATM card, however, someone stole my checkbook and I am overdrawn over $900.00. My savings acct is overdrawn $77.00. I do not know how that happened. The bank actually put through the stolen checks and then charged me for overdraft fees
