Consumer Report

I met this person thru singlesnet.com in Aug. 2012. He and I became good friends first and then I got involved in a romantic relationship with him. He claimed to be in Cypress, TX and had been in the US for 3 years. Stated he was originally from Oulu, Finland. We first were friends and then we became involved in a romantic relationship. He was very smooth and had me convinced I was the "Queen of his Heart!" He did all the right things... Ordered food online from a local pizza place and had it delivered to me, sent me flowers and fruit baskets. Even had ordered a ring for me from the Bradford Exchange only to have the bill sent to me. When we would be chatting, he would send me songs off of uTube and would write the most beautiful emails. He supposedly left the country going to Ghana on a gold mining expedition. I being very stupid, thought all of this was legitimate. When he "supposedly arrived Ghana" he sent me his phone number and we still would correspond with him using the computer at the hotel. (yeah right). I was so in love with this man that his first request was to send him a laptop since his was damaged in flight and he needed a factory unlocked iPhone. Crazy me did this and had it shipped over. This all costs me a small fortune, but I was desperate to stay in touch with this man. (I must add the pictures he sent me in the beginning were numerous pictures of the same man and he was so very handsome). We would chat by yahoo messenger everynight and text and he was very commited to keep this relationship going. After about 5 weeks, he asked for me to send him a few dollars by money gram until his money cleared the bank over there. I did and then it came the time that he was ready to leave Ghana and wanted to fly here to be with me, but he needed money for an airline ticket. I sent $2,000.00 and it was when he said he wasn't going to be able to leave the country without having money on him. I argued with him about this because he first said he was told he had to have $10,000.00, but the lady at the airport told him they would let him go with $4,500.00. I told him I knew this was incorrect and he kept arguing with me about it. I did something I should have done in the beginning. When he first told me his address in Texas, I looked it up on Google Search and found the picture of the house. However, the house shown, was no where near the house he had sent me pictures of. He had given me this story about how his 81 year old fellow neighbor was watching out for his house and he had left some money with him to keep the bills paid. I looked up the neighbor next door to him and called. It was a woman and she said she would give the Harveys the message that I called when they came in. A Mr. David Harvey called me and it was not the David Harvey I had been conversing with. I then called the Mr. Harvey in Ghana that I think is orginally Jacob Boye and I told him what I had done. I then asked him "who really are you?" He said, "what do you mean?" I told him I had contacted his so called neighbor and I ended up getting to speak to the real Mr. Harvey at the address he had given me. I then said "I think you have scammed me." He immediately hung up and I haven't heard from his since. What is furthermore alarming is how and why did he pick this particlar David Harvey's address in Cypress, TX? I did send an email stating that he had until Friday, Nov. 15 to send $2,000.00 back to me and I would forget everything, but if he chose not to, I was going to contact the Attorney General and also the US Embassy in Ghana. This internet dating scamming is getting very serious and a final lesson that I learned... Read all the information you can about this scamming before getting involved with someone. L Everything you read is very true and it is happening to good people. The saddest part of this relationship is that this person claimed to be such a God fearing man. Well, he better be now because there are only final resting places that aren't nice for people like this. It is becoming a very critical situation and I do believe there are lots of US citizens that are making money off of these overseas scammers. Please, don't be the next victim.
